Placostylus ambagiosus ambagiosus is a subspecies of very large, air-breathing land snail, a terrestrial pulmonategastropod mollusc in the family Bulimulidae, the bulimulus snails and their allies.
This subspecies of snail is critically endangered.

This subspecies is endemic to Northland in the North Island of New Zealand. It is found off Cape Maria van Diemen on Motuopao Island.

This snail lives around the roots of flax bushes.
[edit] Shell description
The periostracum of the shell is yellowish-chestnut in color, and the interior of the aperture is salmon-orange.
The shell height is up to 78 mm, and width up to 35 mm.

Placostylus ambagiosus ambagiosus is classified by the New Zealand Department of Conservation as being Nationally Critical.
