Enjoy the process of fact finding in topics which interest me. In addition, I love a well constructed case which makes a clear point and provides either supporting evidence to justify the claim or to candidly admit the supporting data is weak and work toward trying to obtain better grounds.
[edit] Gertz
Hi, in response to your question on my talk page - Gertz claimed that Plame was no longer under cover because she had been previously outed. The actuality was that there was some concern that her identity MIGHT have been leaked by Aldrich Ames -> [1]. The CIA still considered her status classified (as Fitzgerald stated at his press conference)... they were just being more cautious because they didn't know if she had been compromised or not. --CBDunkerson 15:12, 20 November 2005 (UTC)==
[edit] Question
Sorry, but your response still isn't clear to me. Is the substance of your comment that the Gertz's story was discredited because Ames "MIGHT" have leaked her identity or because her status was still classified or something else?
Thanks

- Both. Gertz's column claimed that the CIA knew her cover had been blown and therefor wasn't protecting her identity. In fact, the CIA had no proof (only a concern) her identity had been leaked and therefor still had her employment classified. --CBDunkerson 15:43, 20 November 2005 (UTC)

- It is not clear to me how any of this "discredits" Gertz as claimed. At best the argument is that the C.I.A. classified her as secret, therefore Gertz must be wrong. If that is not what you maintain, please correct me. If that is what you claim, then provide the missing part of the syllogism which is needed to get from the claim to the full set of premises required to support it.
- Thanks
