[edit] link to British
Hello, when you want to link to the article about something British, please do not link to British, as that is a disambiguation page (which nothing should be linked to). Instead link to the one of the options found on that page such as United Kingdom, Great Britain or British English by writing out [[United Kingdom|British]] or [[Great Britain|British]]. - I am unclear why I spammed the page. I added an economics section to Hartford, Cheshire and cited the local companies by adding links to their pages to show that they really did have registered offices in Hartford, that is all. I have only been editing wikipedia for a few months but have many hundreds of edits, so I do not consider myself to be a new user. Please could it be clarified for me what I have done wrong - is it the citations that reference the corporate websites that have been picked up? Pixie2000 00:16, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
- My apologies for posting a welcome message, I should've posted spam1, but that out of the way... I was unsure about it myself in the first place, I consulted an administrator who said I should revert it and post either welcomespam, or spam1. The sites you linked to were not notable, they were placed under economics, however you previously linked to external cites rather than another Wikipedia article. However I've noticed you've readded the links but linking to the articles about the respective companies. I am pleased with the readdition you have made to the article and apologize for my lack of clarity. ScorpO 00:29, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

- Yes it was because of the citations rather than linking to another article. It looked to me like a form of advertising, now it does not. ScorpO 00:32, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Maps for Vale Royal and Northwich
Well done! I have been drawing up maps for the districts of Cheshire as well, but you beat me to it in a very nice example for Vale Royal and Northwich. They are exactly in the same style as I have been planning doing as well. Are you planning to complete the other civil parishes of Vale Royal (as was discussed in WP:Cheshire talk pages)? If so, I can concentrate on some of the other districts myself. I was planning to do Congleton and Crewe and Nantwich Boroughs first. I'm at the point of scanning the drawings in and touching up the final edits before uploading them, but I've had to spend time on family matters this week, and so have been a little delayed. City of Chester needs some sorting out as the area is very big, some of the parishes very small at the moment, and I'm not sure whether some amalgamation of parishes there has already happened. All this makes its map a bit tricky to finish off. DDStretch (talk) 23:44, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks - I am glad you like them! I will do the other civic parishes for Vale Royal too - it is quite simple once I have one done to get the others done - it is just a matter of findng the time. I have not really looked at City of Chester, as I do not know that part of Cheshire well at all, but I can imagine it is quite a tricky area to "decypher". Thanks again!! [edit] Round Tower Lodge, Sandiway
I was about to start a new article on this structure when I discovered you had written a stub. As it happens an article on recent research on the tower was published in the last volume of Cheshire History (2006-7) and I have expanded the stub to incorporate some of this. I have also removed the stubs because I think it now is big enough to constitute an article. Cheshire History is the academic journal of the Cheshire Local History Association and if you would be interested in obtaining a copy I think the Cheshire Record Office could help. Hope you are happy with my development of your work. Peter I. Vardy 15:02, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
- Looks great - well done!! More than happy with what you have written. Pixie2000 09:06, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Cransley school.png
Thanks for uploading Image:Cransley school.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 06:48, 27 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Cheshire fire service crest.png)
Thanks for uploading Image:Cheshire fire service crest.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 01:10, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Princes Dock
Thanks very much for adding to Princes Dock with references. Hope you don't mind, but I've adjusted the formatting slightly for the references to be consistent with the existing accessdate format on the page. I'm currently working my way up the Liverpool dock system articles to expand, add refs and standardise structure/formatting. It's a bit of a mammoth task, but is long overdue. (From a fellow 'pedant for consistency') Snowy 1973 (talk) 21:57, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
- Good work in creating a Port of Liverpool docks template too! Snowy 1973 (talk) 19:19, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
