[edit] Plot Summary
Samantha's band, the Zetta Bytes, is meeting with little success, so her friend Roscoe uses his knowledge of technology designed by his father to create a holographic lead singer, Loretta Modern. The band instantly becomes successful, but Samantha begins to feel alienated, Roscoe discovers feelings for Samantha, and Loretta struggles with individuality. Ultimatly Loretta is sold to a record company, but one of the executives, Darryl, gives her a choice and helps her escape into the Internet when she decides on freedom.
Samantha tries to take Loretta's place, but falls, hits her head and slips into a coma. Loretta returns from the Internet and enters Samantha's mind in order to help her despite the risk of being trapped there. She finds Samantha in a funk but manages to snap her out of it. She explains that she hates being perfect and envies Samantha's ability to learn. The two seem to reach an understanding but there's only enough room for one person at a time so Loretta takes temporary control of Samantha's body so she can feel. She helps Roscoe realize how much he truly cares about Samantha, then goes outside to experience the rain. She enjoys it but a lighting bolt strikes Samantha's body and takes Loretta away into the sky apparently destroying her.
Later Samantha sings as the lead singer and she and Roscoe are now dating. The Zetta Bytes can't figure out who was singing harmony since none of them were doing it, but Loretta's spirit appears nearby and Roscoe realizes that she's watching over them and still helping out.
