Structure showing the basepairing of 5'-GUC-3' to 3'-CAG-5'. Hydrogen atoms are omitted. This is a section of the structure of a 16 nucleotide siRNA bound to a Piwi protein, captured by X-ray crystallography. Carbon atoms are in green, oxygen in red, nitrogen in blue and phosphorus in orange.

A = adenine
C = cytosine
G = guanine
U = uracil
