[edit] Go K. Ross!

Yep, Winter 1981, about six months before he passed away. Took it right when ARCO shut down Anaconda. Oh yeah, did he feel the proof was in the pudding? Oh my... Most interesting class I ever had, and the only one where the class gave the professor a standing ovation at the end. Montanabw 19:21, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, I took his class fall quarter of 1980 -- and I agree: best class I ever had, and the only one with a standing ovation at the end. Historically, nothing will ever compare. Do take a look at the expanded bio I did for him, will you? Thanks! Pitamakan 19:29, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
Your bio looks fine, much better than what was there. but now I can't remember if I took his class fall of 1980 or winter of 1981, but it was cold outside, I remember that much(!)...Maybe we were in the same class (along with 1000 other people!)...was it when ARCO started shutting down Anaconda that you were there? All I know is that was in the UT, I think the next time he did the class, it was the videotaped one, the last he taught. Now, here's the question, what WAS the incident where Hugo Aronson (the "galloping Swede") accused Toole of "starting dat riot?" I thought it was a labor thing, not student protest, I remember reading something about it in the Missoulian around the time he died...Montanabw 20:48, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
I bet you and I were in the same class! (I was the quiet kid up in the balcony ... *g*) If I remember right, Toole didn't teach that last winter quarter, because he was in Helena molesting the Legislature ... the spring quarter class was the one that was videotaped. And I remember hearing the news one day about Anaconda shutting down, and thinking that K. Ross was going to have something to say about that ... and when I went to class, of course he did! It's amazing how that one class was THE common element for an entire decade of UM students -- everyone took it, and everyone remembers it.
I don't know the story with Aronson at all, but I do know a couple of historians I can ask ... I'll get back to you if I find anything out. Pitamakan 05:31, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Great photo of Huron.

Just wanted to thank you for the nice photo of Huron University (especially with that sign!) for the article. --Bobak 15:49, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

You're most welcome! I've been doing some Wiki stuff on other closed colleges, so I drove by the campus last week when I was in town ... and when I saw the "For Sale" sign I knew a photo was mandatory! I wish Huron and its little campus the best, though things seem pretty grim. Pitamakan 16:25, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

Heh ... no biggie. I just hope that our spammer friend doesn't keep reinserting that link of his.  :) Pitamakan 17:12, 2 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Albion State Normal School campus

I've been watching closely to see what happens with the old campus in Albion. I noticed in your last edit to the article, you mention that the buyers' intention to preserve the buildings is somewhat questionable now. I was just curious what information that statement is based on. Pilby 06:13, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

Heh ... well, I'll be the first to admit that while my source is reliable, it's not Wikipedia-worthy: I was in Albion a couple of weeks ago, and talked to the director of the little alumni museum that occupies one of the campus buildings. She's very concerned about the place -- apparently the purchasers don't have the financial backing that they claimed, and the possibility has surfaced that at least some of the buildings might be razed for their brick. The Albion city council was supposed to have met early this month to discuss the issue. I've been meaning to do some research to improve my source and find out the latest, but just haven't gotten around to it yet. I also need to add a photo or two of the campus to the Wikipedia article.
As I'm sure you know, the campus is a very cool old place ... it would be a real tragedy to see any of it go. Let's keep our fingers crossed. Pitamakan 15:10, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
I have the number for one of the guys who bought the campus. I asked him about the rumors. He said that all the rumors are false. They aren't bankrupt, they were able to come up with the money, and they're not planning on knocking any buildings down. And I believe him. He seems like a pretty open, honest person. So... that's a relief, eh?
I live pretty close to the campus. Maybe I'll run by there sometime soon and get some photos to post. Pilby 02:38, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
A relief, indeed ... if that turns out to be the case. It'll be interesting to see what happens, and if the new owners can find an appropriate use for the old campus. I sincerely hope so. Pitamakan 22:28, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] 120 Film article

So you're saying there is no spoon?? I'm sorry, but that seems to be what you're saying. Denimadept 22:18, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

Heh ... No "spoon" that I know of! But the 620 film roll does use a narrower film spool, and I think that's what the original author of the sentence was intending to say. Pitamakan 22:26, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Ben Murphy

Thanks for undoing the vandalism on the Ben Murphy page. I have to be a little curious- are you a Ben Murphy fan because of the MST3K "Riding With Death"? Corwinlw

Nope ... I've never seen that, actually. I looked at his page because Alias Smith and Jones was my very, very favorite TV show when I was a kid.  :) Pitamakan 12:05, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Southwest Limited

Nice additions to the Southwest Limited. Thanks for the fix on the Gallatin Gateway line and your comments on the Olympian Hiawatha article. - Steve

[edit] Thanks

Thanks for fixing the vandalism to my user page. I think I know the source...sigh. Montanabw(talk) 23:12, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

No problem ... and I know how it feels. (The IP that edited your page came from a school in New Jersey, BTW ...) Pitamakan 23:49, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Good work on ghost town articles

I noticed your new articles on Linwood, Utah, Terrace, Utah, and Delano, Nevada, then I found some you did last year on ghost towns in Montana. Well done! Have you considered signing up at Wikipedia:WikiProject Ghost towns? The project's still small, but I think it's gaining momentum. Your expertise and interest would be very welcome. Ntsimp (talk) 21:02, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the good words. I've had fun starting a number of ghost town articles here, though none are near the quality of those you've created. (I'm an expat Utahan, and you've definitely chosen some of the state's most intriguing ghosts to write about!) And thanks, also, for the invitation to join the ghost towns WikiProject. With my limited editing time, I haven't joined any projects to date ... but that's likely to change in the near future, and the ghost towns project will be at the top of my list. Take care! [edit] warning vandals

Hello. Regarding the recent revert you made to The Wicker Man: You may already know about them, but you might find Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace useful. After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit was inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. They can also be used to give a stern warning to a vandal when they've been previously warned. Thank you. Enigma message 07:18, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the reminder. I do know that I should use those templates more often ... though I admit that it often seems like a futile gesture. But, we should still try. Take care! Pitamakan (talk) 14:06, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
