Talk:Pitfall!
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The article lists 1982 as released date, while the DonkeyKong page lists 1981, yet the Pitfall page claims Pitfall was the first jump'n run. Could anybody clear up who was first? -- Grumbel 11:32, 4 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] The Same Game?
I have heard of the GameCube game Pitfall: The Lost Expedition. It was released in 2003, like Pitfall Harry as described in the article. Are these two titles the same game?
- I added this to the article. Amazon has it for sale on PC format, I don't knowa bout GameCube.
[edit] Appearance in other media
Pitfall shows up in Homestarrunner and South Park, among other places, and its iconic status should be noted. Elijahmeeks 00:00, 14 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Infocard?
Should this have an infocard?
[edit] Best selling game?
In the article it is said that pitfall is the best selling game ever made for the Atari 2600. However, in the article about Atari 2600, Pac-Man is listed as the top-selling game... Can anyone clear this up?
- I noticed this, too. According to the Pac-Man article, it sold 7 million. This would be easier to clear up if the articles were properly sourced. Ace of Sevens 02:27, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
At the very first paragraph it says that the sales were 2.6 million copies. In the "history and development section" it says the sales were 4 million copies.Pagrab (talk) 18:03, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Definite ending
About Pitfall II the article says "Also, unlike most games of its day, it had a definite ending.", which apparently implies Pitfall! didn't have one. As a matter of fact, Pitfall! did have a definite ending: you had to collect all the treasure in the jungle within the time limit.
- Yes, but that's not an ending; it's a goal. If you kept progressing through screens in one direction (e.g. kept going to the right) you could actually get back to the first screen at the beginning of the game (sometimes called "going around the world) and begin again. Hense there was no ending. Jean15paul 04:31, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

- That's a terribly interesting definition of "ending", one that misinterprets the original claim. D. Brodale 00:13, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Promotions
Didn't this videogame have some sort of promotional deal where you could send photographs of the Pitfall high score to Activision and win a T-shirt or something? Or was that pretty common in those days? -Rolypolyman 22:50, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Activision Hits Remixed
You didn't even mention Pitfall! as a mingame for the PSP game Activision Hits Remixed
