The Pita Pit is a quick service restaurant franchise serving pita sandwiches. The first shop was opened by John Sotiriadis and Nelson Lang in 1995 near Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. In 1997, The Pita Pit started to expand in Canada. Then in 1999, they began franchising in the United States. There are about 220 restaurants across the United States and Canada. The restaurants are usually located in college towns and often are open for very late hours.

The pita wraps contain a main ingredient, like Philly cheesesteak, falafel or chicken souvlaki and include other sandwich toppings available. Some of the fresh vegetables available include tomato, onion, lettuce and mushrooms. Three types of cheese are available (feta, cheddar, swiss), as are several sauces (including tzatziki, Caesar salad dressing and honey mustard.)
