Pittsburgh after the Fire from Birmingham

Artist William C. Wall witnessed Pittsburgh's catastrophic fire of April 10, 1845, which destroyed a third of the city. This view taken from the south bank of the Monongahela River shows the ruins as they appeared on April 12.
