Piranshahr County

Piranshahr County (Persian: شهرستان پیرانشهر) is a county in West Azarbaijan Province in Iran. The capital of the county is Piranshahr. According to the 2006 census, the population of the county was 408688.The county's population is projected to break 1 million in 2015.

Piranshahr County was one of the original counties of West Azarbaijan Province, created in 1850. Parts of the county's territory were given to Mahabad County in 1953.
