Classical definition of republic
The Wikipedian community has saw fit to delete The Classical definition of republic. I found more corraborating evidence and, on the Votes for Undeletion, They are still voting to keep it deleted. I think this is highly unfair. Is there a cabal going around voting things off that they don't like? I have put external link to Wikinfo:Classical definition of republic and they delete that also. It has been deleted twice from Republic. What's going on here? Wikipedia is not "Free and Open-Content". There is a group controlling what gets said around here. I have been reading about "Republics" all my life. I even quote from a Modern Scholary work that used the term "Classical Republic". And they still delete. Something is not right here. Cardinal-Infante Ferdinand
Translated and merged lots of content from the website you suggested. JohnK also cleaned up my english a bit (since my translations from German always end up in a funny english somehow). He also corrected my mistake that the Infante does not mean child but Prince. I will look at the other article soon. Hope you like it. -- Chris 73 Talk 04:32, Feb 23, 2005 (UTC)
Infanta Isabella Clara Eugenia of Spain
Hi. I have added a lot of the content from the link you provided. The article is mostly detailed family relations and youth, the latter part in the netherlands is a bit skipped over. Hence I expanded the youth and marriage, and kept the netherland part from the previous version. A check for the clarity of my writing would be appreciated. Thanks -- Chris 73 Talk 02:04, Feb 24, 2005 (UTC)
Thanks, the same goes to you... I've forgotten almost all of my Russian years ago. Mikkalai, Paranoid, or Andris, all native speakers, would be able to a good job. 172 12:47, 24 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Peer review article
Sorry for taking so long. I've been a little busy with admin work/RL. Will do so soon. Sorry for holding you up! - Ta bu shi da yu 06:02, 27 Feb 2005 (UTC)
- OK, I've done two edits to the article. The first is a big copyedit (well, not so big - it was pretty good when I checked it!) and the second was to turn the References section into a format as recommended on Wikipedia:Cite sources. I would suggest putting this on FAC after my next comment on peer review is answered. - Ta bu shi da yu 06:29, 27 Feb 2005 (UTC)
You said you'd support Penda of Mercia's FAC nom if it had a picture; well, it has a map now. Will you consider supporting now? Everyking 06:59, 27 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Polish-Soviet War maps
I wouldn't mind seeing more maps, perhaps showing the salient battles and troop movements. Other than that, it's a great article. Rad Racer 01:13, 28 Feb 2005 (UTC)

I couldn't say if it's ready for FAC yet, although it does look good. You do a lot of impressive work on Polish history articles; it's great. (Sorry for taking so long to reply) Everyking 16:00, 14 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Szlachta
hi there,
really cool what you have written about the Polish nobility. however I am surprised that the Lanckoroński family is not featured anywhere? I was thinking about starting, but I think you seem to be much better? or was it the user "emax" who wrote all of it, with the pictures of the herb, etc...? I could help a little if you want... cheers

- I am replying both here and on your anon talk page. First, I advise you to register if you want to communicate via Wiki - it will make it much easier for you to receive replies. Second, me and Emax wrote a lot about szlachta, rule of thumb is he wrote most of the smaller articles, I wrote the few larger ones. I have not heard of Lanckoroński family, it is likely one of the minor szlachta families. If you have info on them, by all means, feel free to create an article about them - if you register, I can help you with that. Take care, --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 20:21, 15 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Early music drum?
Why did you add a "See Also" link to Drum from Early Music?
Württemberg
I believe that Ksiaz would, in this case, mean "Duke," so it would be the Dukes of Württemberg. Does this work? Oels was certainly a possession of the Dukes of Württemberg at some point, so this seems likely, no? john k 16:17, 19 Mar 2005 (UTC)
See [1] has a list. I'm fairly certain Württemberg is correct. I can't find any good maps - I think that since Oels was part of Silesia, it wasn't considered to be an immediate territory of the Dukes of Württemberg - that is, they held it as subjects of the Bohemian crown, rather than as rulers with Landeshoheit, so it doesn't show up on most maps. But I'm not really sure. john k 19:22, 19 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Hi. Thanks for your comment about the FAC for this article. Could you give me an example of such a system, so that I can work out exactly how to do it. Perhaps you could also comment on the unusual organisation of the external links section. On a different note, did you read the current lead, which was changed substantially very soon before your comment? It has now been modified again. Dyngus Day
Could you please take a look at the Dyngus_Day article I started and make any corrections/additions as you see fit? My babcie doesn't remember much about it. She said the girls used to attack the boys as well, and she thought her aunts gave her money on this day, but it might have been another. Is that a possible variant? We're talking about Polish neighborhoods on the South Side of Chicago, not in Poland, so this could be an American permutation, and I've left it out for now. Anyway, let me know what you think. Thanks! --Jpbrenna 01:38, 26 Mar 2005 (UTC)

this is taking longer than expected, because part way thrgouh I realized that the map on Commons didn't include the eastern territory that Poland temporarily captured.
--Pozdrawiam, Halibutt 16:17, Apr 1, 2005 (UTC)
- Samo się rozwiązało i już wszystko działa... Cóż, widocznie tak miało być. Co do innych spraw - wstępna wersja mapki jest już gotowa, dziś pewnie ją nieco podrasuję.
- A z innych ciekawostek - polecam Twojej uwadze historię Wilna i stronę dyskusji. Ciekawie, chyba dodam szowinistę i nazistę do mojej kolekcji epitetów...

Adres ten sam, wystarczy wcisnąć Ctrl+R. Halibutt 12:37, Apr 2, 2005 (UTC)
- Właśnie wgrałem nową wersję, chyba ostateczną. Jeśli nie będziesz miał żadnych komentarzy/sugestii, to w try miga zrobię całą serię mapek do PBW, powstań, wojny polsko-ukraińskiej, linii Curzona, pokoju ryskiego i czego tam jeszcze. Pozostałe mapki zrobiłem jako dodatki do mapki bazowej w osobnych warstwach, więc ich stworzenie zajmie mi góra minutę, wystarczą dwa kliknięcia. Halibutt 21:04, Apr 7, 2005 (UTC)

FAC and information importance..
Hi Piotrus.. I've mostly been around, but doing other things than Warsaw. I think I'll answer your question here (also on FAC) with a different POV.. What I'd like to suggest is a different way of thinking. Rather than "what is not important enough to fit here" think "what is important enough to deserve it's own page". Look at all the little battles that have pages in Wikipedia, then decide if the Battle of Warsaw deserves it's own page? When you have made that page from your own material, then, avoiding too much duplication, copy back an extremely minimal summary. Mozzerati 13:37, 2005 Apr 2 (UTC)
Re: Block question
It should but because range blocks cycle an innocent user would eventually have the same address. Actually, I only thought it was a range block vis a vis comments on the talk page. Frankly, if that is not the case, then I will gladly block him/her forever. -JCarriker 14:53, Apr 2, 2005 (UTC)
- I have gotten confirmation that the vandal has a dynamic IP, this eliminates the problem posed by a range IP. I have blocked two of his IPs indefinitely. Undoubtly he will have more IPs, but we can block them the first time he uses them. Finally, we can now block him forever on sight! -JCarriker 14:25, Apr 3, 2005 (UTC)
Education in People's Republic of Poland
Thank you for your contributions to the article. As you can see from the reference section, I got my information out of a book called Twenty Years of the Polish People's Republic (sadly the only reference book at my library about Poland during the communist period), which was quite obviously issued by the government and glosses over the achievements of socialism while neglecting to mention things like the book bannings. Niewolnicze małpy do gazu
Lysy 06:19, 4 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Mummy Peer review
-
- Basically, it is too short. 'Mummies in Ancient Egypt' should be at least 30kb by itself, and in this article I see it as much larger with a subarticle. 'Mummies in modern times' should go after 'Mummies in other civilizations', and the latter, together with 'Famous mummies' need expantion from a list into large sections. Finally, the 'Famous mummies' should be cleary divided into real mummies and those popularised by books/films/etc. Which reminds me, there needs to be a Mummy (disambigation) (for the film, at the very least). --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 12:36, 2 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- "Mummies in Ancient Egypt" probably should be expanded as you said, but what do you think needs to be included?
- "Mummies in modern times' should go after "Mummies in other civilizations". That's a good idea. I'm not really sure about expanding the list yet. After all, they do have articles on their own, and the article may end up being too large if I do. I'm hoping to keep the mummy article as general as possible.
- Finally, the 'Famous mummies' should be cleary divided into real mummies and those popularised by books/films/etc. If there are any fictional mummies listed, please point them out.
- I'll see what I can do about a disambiguation. Wikiwax showed me there's a lot of mummy topics floating around.

Your article on Janos Kornai
I feel awkward about posting corrections to this article.... Janos Kornai has _never_ been known as Josef, where do you get this idea? I should know this, I am his son (that's why I don't think it would be appropriate for me to edit the article). Janos is John in English, Josef (Hungarian spelling Jozsef) would be Joseph.
A few factual corrections: he does not have a PhD from Karl Marx University (may have a later/honorary degree, he has many of those), in fact he doesn't have a PhD at all (although the "candidate" degree from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences is generally considered the equivalent). He is no longer on the board of the central bank, a few years ago (in 2001) he resigned in protest of the increasing politicization (is this a word?) of the board's role. He was with the HAS Institute of Economics only before he joined Collegium Budapest (which I think happened prior to 1992, but I'm not sure). He retired from Harvard in 2002. His old homepage at Harvard http://post.economics.harvard.edu/faculty/kornai/kornai.html and at http://www.colbud.hu/fellows/kornai.shtml have many details you may or may not want to include...
Anyway thanks for all this work (and I don't just mean the article about my father)!
Andras Kornai
- Nice to meet you - you may consider registering to ease communications (it is customary to leave replies on target person talk page since they get a msg they received a reply). Technical stuff aside, I have seen Josef used in some bibliographies while doing an online search for your father's biography. And unless there is some other Josef Kornai which also did some works on economics of shortage and similar topics, it means that somewhere, somewhen, this mistake has been made and copied many times over. Tnx for the links and updates, I will work on this soon - but you may consider doing this youself, as you are surely mych more knowledgable about this subject - and this being Wiki, you can easily edit it just as I can. Once again, tnx for your comments. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 09:58, 6 Apr 2005 (UTC)

- The following is a copy of my message left at Cauis2ga's userpage
I.P. Brennus S.D. Caio Suo:
I was wondering if you could take a look at the Wapno and Wagrowiec articles I've been working on. I'm asking you because a) you are a native speaker of Polish and b) the creator of the Wagrowiec article (hope I haven't messed it up too much!)
I have two principal concerns:
- 1)Wagrowiec is both a city, a rural commune, and a county (for which there is already an article). Should we have a separate article for the rual commune, or should I include it in the article about Wagrowiec the city? If we include Wagrowiec rural commune, should I just collapse its population figure with that of the city, and leave the "urban" figure as is? Where are we going to put the separate herb picture if we combine the urban and rural municipalities?
- 2) Wapno. There is a Polish version Wapno (wieś) that seems to put Wapno in Kuyavia-Pomerania Voivodeship; however, I ran a search in a modern Polish electronic gazetteer (http://www.pilot.pl/index.php3?Z_CITY_NAME=Wapno&form_t=1&lang=en), and no alternative Wapno seems to exist. Could the author of the Polish article have accidently put it in the wrong powiat? It looks like Wapno may have originally been in the county of Znin, which is in Kuyavia-Pomerania Voivodeship. Maybe that led to some confusion? I had Halibutt look at it and his solution was to simply drop the link, but I'm thinking that the Polish article may need correction, and may need to be moved to Gmina Wapno. I have to confess that I probably started all this confusion by putting up a request for a Wapno article several months ago. I didn't know that it was an official gmina of modern Poland. All I knew was the name, and that it was "around Poznań" (some of my ancestors came to America from Wapno in the 1890's and the story of their origins has been passed down with decreasing clarity and accuracy over the generations, I'm afraid). Unfortunately, I don't know enough Polish to clean up the mess that I've created. Perhaps you could fix it, or maybe you could send a message in Polish to one of the administrators of the Polish Wikipedia for me? I don't know enough to compose one :(
I appreciate any guidance and help you can give me! --Jpbrenna 20:05, 14 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Hi Piotrus, I just noticed you changed your FAC vote from "conditional support" to "oppose" - I perfectly understand that decision since no work has been done on the article for several days now, I'd just like to mention that I put off expansion work on the article until I get some more reference works from the library (had to order a couple papers from out of state, it will take a while until I have all the texts).
