[edit] History
When Pioneer Middle School was opened in September of 1999, it had been the first middle school in Tustin Unified School District built in 25 years. Some of the school's highest achievements include earning the California Distinguished School in 2003 and 2007 and being a recipient of the National Model Professional Learning Community award during November of 2006. It is also the first middle school in the city of Tustin, CA to surpass the API score of 900. Pioneer's record-breaking API score was '915', achieved by the students participating in the class of 2005-2006. They threw a monumentous party to commemorate this record which included a mime, a dance, and pizza lunch. Their current API is '923' which is also considered exceptional. On May 17th, 2008, Pioneer's Chamber Orchestra and Concert Band won first place in the Music In The Parks Festival at Six Flags Magic Mountain. In addition, on June 6, 2008, Pioneer's Beginning Treble Choir and Advanced Mixed Choir also won first place in the Music In The Parks Festival at Disneyland Resort.
