[edit] 1.22 - Pingu and Pinga Play Circus

We currently have the final sentence in the synopsis for this episode as "They looked really scary and evil though, covered in blue paint with false faces over their own - it's enough to put you off watching Pingu again forever!". As I mentioned in the comment when I originally deleted the sentence, I think that it's an opinion, maybe very strongly held, but nevertheless an opinion, not a fact. I don't think that they looked scary or evil, and I'm not put off watching other episodes because of it!

Having looked again at the actual episode, I can see nothing in the content that changes my view, or that factually justifies the statement as part of the synopsis ("A synopsis ... refers to the plot or facts of a film ..."). Is there any factual evidence that I've missed, in the "plot or facts" or elsewhere, that supports the validity of including the sentence? Kwerty 02:24, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] 1.26 - Pingu's Dream

What is the justification for removing the synopsis (and, incidentally, the title as well) for this episode? I am not aware of any specific ban, although the episode has not been shown in the UK for some time. It is available on various VCR's / DVD's, though again not in the UK. Having watched the episode, it may be a little odd, and perhaps scary to some, but it's not that bad. Kwerty 00:50, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] 1.26: "Pingu's Dream" - "Leopard Seal", "Walrus" or neither?

There has been some dispute as to whether the giant animal that stalks Pingu is a “walrus” or a “leopard seal”. In an effort to avoid occasional revisions to the synopsis of the episode, depending on the viewpoint of the reader / editor, I offer the following observations, and a possible solution

  • bear in mind that this is a dream of a fictional character, of a possibly imagined creature
  • “Walrus” and “Leopard Seals” belong to different subspecies of the seal species “Pinniped
  • The animal shown has the more elongated head shape of an ordinary seal, rather than the somewhat squarer head of a walrus
  • It has a good set of bristles, which is much more a characteristic of a walrus than an ordinary seal
  • It does not have tusks, which is the most striking difference between a walrus and a “normal” seal
  • Walrus generally eat only relatively small marine animals, whereas some leopard seals are renowned for their hunting of penguins
  • Pingu purportedly lives in the Antarctic, which is where leopard seals are found. Walrus live only in the arctic

With the above in mind, I suggest that we refer to the animal that chases Pingu as a “Giant Seal” or “Seal”, without trying to be too specific as to the type. Any comments! Kwerty (talk) 03:15, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

    • In the absence of any comments, and in view of the current "battle", have switched to using "giant seal". Kwerty (talk) 03:00, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] 1.26 Pingu's Dream - "Grandfather" or "Grandmother"?

Is there any evidence that would confirm that the character in this episode is "Grandmother" rather than "Grandfather, as is evidently believed by at least one contributor? I have not managed to find any myself (in fact, outside of the suggestion being made in the synopses, I can't find any mention of Pingu's Grandmother anywhere). Also, as the character portrayed in this episode is remarkably similar in appearance to that identified as Grandfather elsewhere in the episodes / synopses, I am pretty well convinced myself that it is Grandfather rather than anyone else! Any comments, anyone? Kwerty (talk) 01:51, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] 1.8 "Pinga is left out" - new alternative title

Can anyone identify for me where the recently added alternative title "Pinga Runs Away" can be found and verified? I've not come across it anywhere before. Thanks Kwerty (talk) 01:58, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
