Pinhoe railway station is a suburban railway station in the city of Exeter, Devon. The station is operated by South West Trains services on the London Waterloo-Exeter route.

It re-opened on 16 May 1983, having been closed by the "Beeching Axe" on 7 March 1966, and serves the development on the eastern edge of the city around the village of Pinhoe. East of the station the line becomes single track as far as Yeovil Junction (with passing places at Chard Junction and Honiton). The station has seen an increase in services with the opening of the Met Office headquarters and EDF Energy's new offices a short distance away as part of the transport plan to cope with these large developments.

On a historical note, the former station signal box has been re-erected at Bere Ferrers railway station in West Devon on the Tamar Valley Line

[edit] Services

Monday to Saturday daytimes there is generally a train every two hours westbound towards Exeter (Central and St Davids) and beyond and eastbound towards London Waterloo.

Until recently, there was no Sunday service provided to/from this railway station - the nearest alternative being Exeter Central but South West Trains have now reinstated a limited Sunday service of two trains in each direction, per day.[1]
