Pineview Elementary is small, rural elementary school was established at its present location in 1967, on the outskirts of Prince George, British Columbia. During the earliest part of the twentieth century, Pineview Elementary was situated on the corner of Poolie Road and Bendixon, next to the historical Pineview Community Hall. For the years of Great Depression and World War II, the school relocated to the Prince George Airport and was renamed the Airport School. In the 1950s and first half of the following decade, Pineview Elementary opened near Pineview General Store on Bendixon Road. At the time, it was a small school with no more than 50 students and three teachers.
Over the years, Pineview Elementary School has seen many additions. These include a real library, a gym, a music room (later converted into a classroom), a hot dog concession as well as four additional classrooms on the south end, with 9 classrooms all together. The school's student population has dwindled as of late, down from 311 students in June of 1983 to a present 215 in September 2004. Once an umbrey orange, Pineview School has been recently repainted. Recent pictures show it to be a drab, blue colour all around the school.
Resting to the side of the Old Cariboo Highway near the corner of Cummings Road, Pineview Elementary has an paved teacher's parking lot, several bicycle racks outside the principal's window, one new playground, one wooden playground, one soccer field, one basketball court, hockey rink(in the winter) two baseball diamonds (that are usually employed for softball) and a cross-country track that follows the power lines immediately south of the school's property. Beyond the western edge of the school grounds flows a stream with a beaver dam. The other side of the stream is wooded, and rather scenic.
Neighboring elementaries include Buckhorn to the south and Blackburn the north. Tabor Lake is just one of the many lakes within striking distance. Pineview Elementary is part of School District 57.
