As of the 2005-2006 school year, Pine Tree High had a total of 1,081 students (70.1% White, 14.8% Hispanic, 12.2% African American, 2.4% Asian/Pacific Islander, and 0.5% Native American). 28.6% of the students are considered economically disadvantaged.

Based on the accountability ratings released by the Texas Education Agency on August 1, 2007, Pine Tree High is currently rated "Academically Acceptable".

Pine Tree High School is a two-time National Blue Ribbon School award winner, in 1988-89 and again in 1992-93. [1]
