Pine Cay

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pine Cay is an island of about 30 people population in the Turks and Caicos Islands. It is privately owned by the Meridian Club and rents the area to its employees and customers.

Pine Cay was the site of the first tourist development on the Turks and Caicos. It was planned in the 1950s but was established in the 1970s.

It is less than a mile wide and two mile long, though 9 miles of trails dot the island.

One of the most unusual sites on the island is saltwater fish in freshwater lakes. This is due to the massive Hurricane Donna that struck the cay in 1960.
