The importance of this artwork to the article is as a documentation of their immense popularity at a time when hockey was a regional sport that failed to even have at least a few teams in each time zone. Neiman is well known for selecting only a few prominent subjects per year and in hockey he has only done (by name) The Great One and The French Connection (although The Broad Street Bullies and the Bobby Orr Bruins are another clear subject). Since this was pre-ESPN and national television coverage, many probably do not remember them as well as I a Buffalonian who grew up in a hockey hotbed. It is imperative to document their cultural importance as status as a Neiman subject does.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 06:38, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
