Welcome

Welcome!

Hello, Pilotguy/Archive1, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome!  --Mistress Selina Kyle (Α⇔Ω ¦ ⇒✉) 00:40, 29 December 2005 (UTC)

{{User aspie}}

You may want to add {{User aspie}} to your page. As well as looking cool, it adds you to Category:Aspergian Wikipedians which is linked from Talk:Asperger syndrome. Good if you want psychologists and such looking for opinions from real people to get our views heard (and not just those of parents, which is the usual). :) --Mistress Selina Kyle (Α⇔Ω ¦ ⇒✉) 00:06, 29 December 2005 (UTC)

No problem. The user in question has now been blocked by User:Fuzheado. Since he has already been amply warned, please report him to WP:AIV if he comes back. Happy editing. Chick Bowen 02:44, 1 January 2006 (UTC)

Question...

Which "minor edit" was that (That you referred to on my usr talk page)? Thanx 68.39.174.238 17:16, 2 January 2006 (UTC)

i am not vandalize!

I am not vandalize please do not automatically assume that i am vandalizing im just cleaning out page. assuming i am a vandal is not the wikipedia way. (24.60.161.63 23:51, 2 January 2006 (UTC))

Do not expect me to prove that. You have a history of vandalizing, and that's what I am going by. If you want to contribute then read Wikipedia:What Wikipedia Is Not. I don't have time to counteract your claim. --Winter 00:04, 3 January 2006 (UTC)

I didn't vandalize either

While I understand your actions, I only called myself a vandal in an ironic way, a light hearted reference to the previous misdemeanours commited from my ip. 84.9.75.111

Hmmm, that is ironic, especially in light of the fact that ten minutes before you were vandalizing my user page. Benami 00:00, 3 January 2006 (UTC)

I did not change your Google template. I simply changed the word "Intrests" to "interests." Sharpdust 23:34, 3 January 2006 (UTC)

In case you haven't noticed, you can now add a 4th case of vandalism against your user page. That guy was nasty! ;) Have a nice day, Phædriel 20:54, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

Reverting vandalism on your userpage is becoming somewhat of a habit for me, Winter ;-) Have a gret weekend! Cheers, Phædriel 21:42, 7 January 2006 (UTC)

DNA

You kindly reverted the vandalism on DNA. But be on the look out for mutliple edits. In this case the vandal had done two distinct deletions. Good job though. David D. (Talk) 00:50, 5 January 2006 (UTC)

yep some of these vandals are sneeky. You have to watch out for the vandalism edit followed by the legit edit. There is a tendancy to look at the last edit. In fact, what you need to do is go to history and compare the last version with the last 'good' version. Again thanks for the effort David D. (Talk) 03:05, 5 January 2006 (UTC)

Jimbo Wales edit

I presume it was an error and you reverted to the wrong version??? [1]. I've unblocked you. -- Curps 01:12, 5 January 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for updating your own user page I guess?

I was looking at some guy's contributions to see what else needed reverted, and noticed that he deleted half your user page. I skimmed it, and thought "ooh, bunch of things I should add onto my own user page", and saw that it said it had 10 vandalisms, so I was going to be nice and change it to say 11, but I see that on the next edit you already did :) Atari2600tim 22:37, 6 January 2006 (UTC)

Internationalization and localization "bibliography"

"Regarding Internationalization and localization the bibliography should stay on the main page, since that is where most users will see it." -- I really do not agree. I don't think it's appropriate to have long bibliographies like this in Wikipedia articles (except for bibiographies of sources actually cited in the entries, of course). On the other hand, I'm not going to fight with you about this, since Internationalization and localization isn't a topic that I have any special interest in. I will, however, post a copy of this note to Talk:Internationalization_and_localization, in case anyone else there wants to discuss this further. Happy editing to you! -- 200.141.105.210 16:44, 7 January 2006 (UTC)

abortion

Please explain how the edit you reverted is POV. You may not be aware that editors have agreed that fetal pain during abortion is acknowledged as present in some legal abortions. The only disagreement is the age at which the fetus can feel pain. Thus it is not POV to lead with the main idea of the section - fetal pain. Please explain how that is POV in this context. 84.146.249.98 23:32, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

Re: Your post on my user page

Hello Pilot guy, glad to get into communication with you. Heh, I was in the middle of an edit on my user page when I found your communication. Maybe you would use my discussion page sometimes? In any event, we seem to have a communication line. I do understand the Church of Scientology is entirely responsible for and uses Dianetics today including New Era Dianetics which goes the further step of an additional command or two, insuring the PC has an opportunity to view cognitions. Did you view something that made you think I had misrepresented either Dianetics or Scientology in some way? Terryeo 23:38, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

No problem, glad to be in communication.

Anti-mullah

Hi there! Thanks for your comment. The term is a translation from Persian. It refers to those Iranians who treat reformist like President Mohammad Khatami, Mohsen Kadivar, etc as they treat Khamenei or Mohammad Taghi Mesbah Yazdi (simply because they are cleric). There are plenty of examples that I will try to collect this week. It mainly refers to Iranians who blindly hate clerics and use any opportunity to insult them. Unfortunately this has become a cluture in Iran and it is harmful to our democratic movement. I am planning to ask Iranian wikipedians to help to write the article. Thanks.-- Mensen

I am sorry for the inconvenience. I made a mistake!. Sorry. --Mensen

test templates on talk pages

Hi Winter, I noticed on an anon's page that you placed a {{test1}} when there was already a {{test3}} or test4 from a few minutes earlier. It is of course your perogative as to what test template you feel the user deserves, but I would recommend a progression of warnings. As it turns out, when you placed the test1 on their page I had already blocked them so I ended up placing a block notice just below your template. :) --Syrthiss 18:39, 13 January 2006 (UTC)

Pederasty in ancient Greece

the article is very much disputed why do you not recognize that ???

Thanks for paying attention to this article. You might like to know that this anon has been vandalizing Leonardo da Vinci and Homosexuality in the militaries of ancient Greece when not messing around with his main attraction. I flagged him on Wikipedia:Wikiquette alerts, for whatever that's worth. Cheers, Haiduc 02:06, 14 January 2006 (UTC)

Manx language

Your reversion of that vandal's moronic activity is greatly appreciated. I could not help but laugh a bit to myself considering how obscure a topic he/she/it happened to choose- one would imagine that they would get more jollies by slapping some scatological remarks on a more prominent article. Anyway, thanks again. Manx is important to at least a few of us. ;) → P.MacUidhir (t) (c) 04:15, 14 January 2006 (UTC)

Aston Villa F.C.

I think we might have butted heads on reverting Aston Villa F.C. I don't really know anything about the topic. I just saw the blanking on the IRC channel. While I was trying to fix it I guess you were too. If you're familiar with the article you might want to make sure I didn't mess something up. It looks OK to me, but I'm not really sure.--Pucktalk 18:15, 14 January 2006 (UTC)

Edit on "Elizabeth Tyler" and "Anne Contesse Tyler"

The articles Elizabeth Tyler and Anne Contesse Tyler are extremely short articles that do not provide sufficient context, and do not cite any sources. I have put relevant notices on the pages, which you have repeatedly removed. Why? Also note that these articles are very close to non-notable biographies, which can be speedily deleted. And indeed someone has put a nn-bio tag on Anne Contesse Tyler and it was speedily deleted. Please do not remove relevant notices from pages. 131.111.8.96 18:09, 15 January 2006 (UTC)

Your argumens and comments are entirely inappropriate.

  • "There are plenty of articles similar in length to that." In this case they should be labelled as stubs. The article in question (Elizabeth Tyler) is less than a stub, it does not say anything about the subject -- this is called "providing no context". It does not cite any sources, as every Wikipedia article should. It does not assert that the subject is notable -- this is called "non-notable biography".
  • "It's nothing to worry about." Yes, this is something to worry about. The article Anne Contesse Tyler was very similar to this one (created by the same user), and it was speedily deleted as a non-notable bio., so it looks like this article will go the same way.
  • "There's no point in throwing a bunch of tags on an article just because it's pithy." The whole point of these tags is that they should point various shortcomings in articles and the way they should be improved. If an article does not cite any sources, it is not the right, but the duty of every Wikipedia editor to put an {{unreferenced}} tag on the page, so that someone familiar with the subject (presumably the creator of the page) will provide necessary references.
  • "Do not tell me what I should and should not be doing." Same applies to you.
  • "The notices are not relevant, and have no reason to be there." The notices were very relevant, as I pointed out before. In fact someone should put a {{nn-bio}} notice on this page, and then you can sit back and watch the article disappear into nothing.
  • Finally, your warnings to "stop vandalism" and threats to block are absolutely out of place. There was no vandalism. If there's any vandalism, its yours. Removing tags and warnings from pages without doing anything to the article itself (no improvement, no discussion on the talk page) can be considered vandalism.

Vandalism Revert string

If I may ask, how do you have the vandals name and the reversion's editor's name in the summary so quickly? It takes me a while to type that all out. Are you using a specifc tool, or is it something exclusive to administrators? Thank you. Avi 01:35, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

Thanks, but every time I try to use it, I get massive XML parsing errors. I have disabled the Java-based editing tools and shut down CDVF, and it still crashes. Any ideas?

Admin tools

Please don't abuse them. It is considered abuse of admin tools to revert non-vandalism.

If you had actually bothered to check or look around you would see that admin NLSE told me to put that message on his talk page regarding vandalism to my talk page:

I'm confused, your page says you are not an admin but you have rollback.. I thought only admins have this? Or do you just have some kind of tool to make the edit summary the same or something. ~confused~ --Mistress Selina Kyle (Α⇔Ω ¦ ⇒✉) 02:44, 17 January 2006 (UTC)

telectronics

Hello Winter (Pilotguy) Following is copy of an email sent by me to Help Desk today.

" Att: Pilotguy. I noted that you have reverted my edit of of today to the the prior edit of the entry "Telectronics".

The prior entry which you reverted to is inaccurate, defamatory and an attempt at glorification of Telectronics' co-founder Noel Gray, by his son Christopher who has a long standing obsession based upon fantasies passed to him by his late father.

I was in contact with "Capitalistroadster" over this matter in early November 2005, and at that time, believed the matter to be resolved. An entry format, identical to the one you deleted, was agreed upon based upon documentation I supplied to Capitalistroadster (Keith Old).

By mid November the entry had been again reverted by Chris. Gray and then subjected by him to multiple changes until Jan 03.

I response to this I contacted Keith Old by email on Jan 3rd but received no reply. I then contacted your Help Desk and was advised that my communication was (as recall) beong referred to the 'moderator'.

I look forward to a reply.

Geoffrey Wickham ( co-founder of Telectronics). " End of quotation.

Subsequently I, again, changed the entry to the truthful and agreed text; but now find it has again been reverted to the Gray glorification by another editor.

On a personal note: I wish you all the best with your ambition to become a commercial pilot. It's a long hard row to hoe ! I did my first solo in a DH82 ( the old Tiger Moth) in 1954. Subsequently, and as only a private pilot have accumulated about 1700 hrs TT. Completed building a Lancair 320 in '97 after 4930 hrs hrd work; the result was worth the work. Regards GGW

Winter,

Thank you for agreeing to retain the previously agreed text. I apologise for having deleted the footnotes, but in previously reading the rule you cited I came to the opinion that 'talk' footnotes were NOT references; so I did not delete the 'References' which are cited. The 'footnotes' by C Gray, are all existant documents. However, none of the cited documents support the glorification sections of the Gray text.

I regret that the situation continues; but I am most pleased that the current text of the Telectronics entry in Wikipedia now gives due recognition to Jeffcoat, Nicks, Cowdery and Money. Not one of these names appeared in the original texts posted by C Gray.

Be assured that I have no reason whatsoever to hold animosity against you.

Regards GGW

No idea what you're talking about. 71.197.233.173

Someone had redirected googolduplex, googoltriplex the same way. I just followed the lead. It's not vandalism. 71.197.233.173

St marys yala

Why have you reverted my edit in which I redirected St marys yala to St. Mary's School Yala? The first article was just a copy of the second, and the second one is better formatted. After you reverted, I see that someone else made the same redirect. If you want to be consistent, you must revert that back, too, if for some reason (known only to yourself) you insist on having two identical articles on same subject. 131.111.8.104 02:24, 23 January 2006 (UTC)

  • Please check [2]. I am sure you are doing a great job reverting vandalism, only sometimes contributions from anonymous IP aren't vandalism, it would be good if you checked the edits first, whether they actually make sense. And even in cases when they don't, they are not always vandalism. Please be more careful in the future in accusing people of vandalism and in threatening to block them; sometimes edits are misguided (in your opinion) but otherwise done in perfectly good faith; this is not vandalism. I don't want to pick any quarrel with you, just be more careful and don't assume that anything from an anonymous IP is necessarily vandalism.
Otherwise, you're doing a great job. 131.111.8.99 (same person replying, even if slightly different IP) 00:04, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

This is ludicrous

I was told not to spam or vandalize. My edits to the Howard Stern page at 3:33 am were truthful and verifiable by the links I inserted modifying blatant lies and replacing them with the truth. Repeated attempts to rectify this obviously biased and untruthful page are met with nazi like trolling resistence. The concept is ludicrous. Have some common decency and allow the truth to be spoken. The original edit that I modified stated that Howard signed with Sirius prior to Opie and Anthony signing with XM. This is untruthful and wholly incorrect and is roundly rebuked by many media sources. If the sanctity of wikipedia is of the utmost importance, to the point where I am refrained from making edits that last longer than three seconds, then CHECK THE FACTS. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.109.66.60 (talkcontribs)

I see you reverted an anon change on this page back to my last revision. Did you have a particular reason? I agree the last edit was badly written, but the Oak Tree is a significant feature of the College and should be mentioned. It is quite old and the College quadrangle was built around the tree. The College does indeed taker great care of it. Unless you had a specific reason, I'll try to add something better about the tree. Regards, --Bduke 20:26, 29 January 2006 (UTC)
