[edit] Henry Nassau d'Auverquerque, 1st Earl of Grantham
Hello, Pilch62. It appears that you copied and pasted Henry Nassau d'Auverquerque, 1st Earl of Grantham to Henry de Nassau d'Auverquerque, 1st Earl of Grantham. Please do not move articles by copying and pasting them because it splits the article's history, which is needed for attribution and is helpful in many other ways. If there is an article that you cannot move yourself using the move link at the top of the page, follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Requested moves. Also, if there are any other articles that you copied and pasted, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you, Phoe 18:38, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
I realized I could've done it that way after I finished. Should I reverse what I did, or just leave it as it is? Pilch62 18:44, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
-
- There are two possibilities, I think. Firstly you can revert your changes on both articles and can then request a new move on Wikipedia:Requested Moves, secondly you can explain the process on Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen and ask to merge both articles' history. Greetings ~~ Phoe talk 19:04, 18 April 2007 (UTC) ~~

- I'll do the first--seems more straightforward. Thanks again! Pilch62 23:48, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Notice to all members of WikiProject Maryland
There are a few things going on right now in WikiProject Maryland that I thought all members should know about, especially the first one.
- Not too long ago, Marylandstater raised the question of exactly how many members of the project are still active. For this reason, I'm asking everyone who is still active, and wants to remain in the project, to put an asterisk (*) after their username on the project's participants list. You have until the end of November 17, 2007 to do so, sometime after that, all the names that do not have an asterisk will be removed. This is just to clean up the ever expanding list. If you've been gone and come back to find that you've been removed from the list, don't take it personally, just re-add yourself! I won't feel bad at all if no one gets removed, in fact, it would be nice if all 30 members still consider themselves active. Also, this won't affect the two subprojects, but speaking of the subprojects...
- As of sometime next week WikiProject Baltimore City College will be no more. Myself, Golem88991, and John Carter have decided to make it into a task force of WikiProject Maryland. If you have any objections, concerns, or comments, please post them in the talk page topic concerning this.
Now for the exiting news:
- I'm pleased to announce the creation of the Baltimore Task Force! Those interested in contributing to Wikipedia's numerous articles related to Maryland's largest city, now have a place to collaborate.
- I'd also like to take this time to propose a project newsletter. Any comments should be directed at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Maryland#Newsletter.
A couple last things:
- The portal is in desperate need of maintenance, anyone who's interested, go check it out.
- It's probably a good idea to add the project page (and thus the project talk page) to your watchlist. That way, you can easily see when new comments are posted.
I hope you read through all that ;). Thanks to all members for your contributions to the project's articles so far, let's keep up the good work!
Sincerely, -Jeff (talk) 05:56, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Dirk Bogarde
Hi, Pilch. See my post at Bogarde's talk page and my edit to the article. Cheers. -- JackofOz (talk) 21:47, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Portmanteau
Portmanteau's are a type of blend, and very specific. They are a rarity. Del Mar Va is a compound of acronyms, which do not have the full word. They cannot be considered, linguistically, as a portmanteau. I teach English at the college level. I have dealt with English linguistics for a very long time. If the definition provided by whatever source does not say the above, its because the definition is lacking compared to the one I have provided. Look at how even Lewis Carroll states the matter, and look at the word "blend" on Wikipedia before leaping. Ottava Rima (talk) 15:22, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Marylander?
where do you hail from originally? i'm a native worcester county resident, myself. spent a couple years in the Bay area, too, enjoyed the hell out of it. which neighborhood do you live in? - Metanoid (talk, email) 00:43, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
- A farm between Snow Hill & Pocomoke--my brother is still running it. You can probably recognize the last name from my handle. And you? Now, we live near the Civic Center. I just can't seem to get away from peninsulas with Bay Bridges leading to them . . . ;) Pilch62 (talk) 03:30, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
ah, gotcha. i talk to a brad with your last name, great guy. i'm a pocomoker -- pocomokean? hehe. - Metanoid (talk, email) 05:15, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
- Cousin Bradley! (Whom, paradoxically, I've never actually met!) My father was born in the house where Brad's grandfather lives. And altho' our post office address was Pocomoke, we went to school in Snow Hill: Snow Hillian??? ;) Let me drop you an email . . . Pilch62 (talk) 18:41, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
the Pocomoke City article is looking good! i'm afraid i don't have much patience for history research etc, so i tend to stick to minor editorial issues 'less it's a biology-related article.... - Metanoid (talk, email) 06:40, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks!!! I had some time today, so I started working on some of the Worcester County articles. BTW, there is now--TA-DA!--a Pocomoke River State Park article (also a Pocomoke River State Forest and a Pocomoke River Wildlife Management Area). I've just been using other wikipedia articles about MD state parks as guides, as well as the DNR pages for each park, so they're all kind of similar, but at least they're there . .. In creating the links, I've also discovered that a lot of the bird articles use British, rather than American, nomenclature . . . Pilch62 (talk) 06:50, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
right -- i'll check that out. - Metanoid (talk, email) 17:55, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Opinion of legal threats
I am answering your other question here, because, as I stated, the other talk page is not an approrpiate forum, in my opinion.
This is my first interaction with Ottava. Having seen some of Ottava's posts, it is clear that the statements made by Ottava are not always as straighforward and clear as one might hope - and are easily subject to multiple interpretations. From what Shell stated, it would be easy to interpret Ottava's message to her as a threat of legal action. However, assuming good faith means that when Ottava states that the message was not intended as a legal threat, I will take Ottava at his/her word and chalk it up to poor communication until such time as Ottava's actions prove that there is no longer any reason to assume good faith. TheRedPenOfDoom (talk) 05:04, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
- If his discussion is in good faith, then he can certainly answer the question--he, after all, is the one who raised the issue of the insufficiency of retractions. And, as I said, he was blocked for making a legal threat (whatever his intent) and that block was only lifted when he retracted the alleged threat. I don't think his good or bad faith has anything to do with the actions that were in fact taken by the admins. Pilch62 (talk) 05:11, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
- I guess we disagree about what the impact of that line of discussion would have. Thank you for asking for clarification. TheRedPenOfDoom (talk) 05:30, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Pocomoke City
I didn't put anything on the PC talk page, because I replied on the template talk page, since that's where you explained what you did. There is already a source on the page: the reference in the demographics section, which provides a link to get Census data. Here is the specific entry for PC. Nyttend (talk) 23:34, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
You deleted two kilobytes of well-sourced information and made an attack on me. Stop it; personal attacks are not permitted. Nyttend (talk) 00:56, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
