[edit] English lyrics

From what I can remember, there are singable English lyrics to this song. Since it's on the public domain (according to the liner notes on a 1998 recording by the Philippine Madrigal Singers), we can post it here w/o copyright worries. I might try transcribing the lyrics myself when I have the time (or, better yet, try Googling it ;) --- Tito Pao 02:37, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

Found one, here. I'll compare these lyrics to the recording. If these are the correct English lyrics, then I'll post it here myself. --- Tito Pao 02:38, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
Confirmed. The Madz did sing this version, albeit only the first stanza. And it also says, "public domain", so I think it's safe to place the translation on the article. --- Tito Pao 19:22, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Musical sources

I'd like to know if anyone is aware of its history. I have heard, though without confirmation, that it was originally composed in English and was introduced during the American regime. Renpaul 23:42, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

I've read this somewhere (I need to look it up again) that it was based on the official State Songs of about two states (one of which, if I'm not mistaken, was Maryland). Since I was unable to find an audio recording or sheet music of any of these state songs, I was unable to verify that Pilipinas Kong Mahal was derived from any of these songs (it would have made the connection more obvious). --- Tito Pao 03:19, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
