With the help of Miss Ellie, Gary and Valene Ewing reunited after 17 years. Miss Ellie bought them a house in California as a wedding present. After Gary and Val had moved into their new house, they got acquainted with their new neighbors. The Fairgates held a dinner "party" that was interrupted by Sid's daughter, Annie, who was born in Sid's ex-marriage. The problems between Sid and Annie were soluted by the help of Val.
