[edit] SSBB
It is not yet known as of Wednesday, January 9th, if one of Pikmin and Olimar's special moves is to pluck a Pikmin from the ground. On a related topic, the character's SSBB name is Pikmin and Olimar, and not Captain Olimar. Thank you. Glotnot (talk) 02:27, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Odd
'The second step is in selecting the appropriate numbers and colors of Pikmin needed to complete the tasks, and then executing them.'
What does that mean?
It means that you first choose the Pikmin needed to accomplish the tasks, and then you excecute those tasks. - Zorio 21:17, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Debug mode
Should a section or paragraph be dedicated to the debug mode that can be unlocked via action replay. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Atirage (talk • contribs)
- You mean the code "D-Pad Up Displays Debug Info"? -- RattleMan 13:47, 13 May 2006 (UTC)
Oh yeah I heard of the debug treat in Tips and Tricks
[edit] Treasure (Pikmin)
I proposed this article for deletion but the tag was taken down. I was wondering if anyone here can prove that this topic is article-worthy and, if so, to improve it. Otherwise I'll put it up for deletion. —EdGl 23:15, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
- Feel free. I've appointed myself captain of Pikmin articles, and I don't want to keep this one free of cruft. I have my hands full enough with the articles we have, especially Enemies of Pikmin. I don't think this one's notable enough, though. The only reason I created the enemies of Pikmin article is because almost every week, someone would make another article on Bulborbs or Snavians or Snitchbugs, and each of these articles was of low quality and little content, so I unified them into a more list-like arrangement like we have now. However, to date, this is the only time someone has created an article on Pikmin treasures. Since I've had to revert the Enemies article about 100 times between when I created it and now, I would conclude that this info is in much less demand and is therefore not notable. Feel free to nominate it for deletion. However, please tell me if you do so, so I can monitor the process. If it's kept, I guess I'll have to add it to the list of Pikmin articles I have to watch. Thank you for the notice, however. RyanGerbil10 (Drop on in!) 17:16, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

- Sure thing. Unfortunately, this guy is putting a lot of work into this article, and I would hate to see it go to waste. Stuff like this makes me less of a deletionist. :-) I'm not a gung-ho deletionist. Maybe I'll wait until another deletionist comes across this article. —EdGl 15:49, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Silicon-based life?
In the article, it says how this planet can't be Earth because it has silicon-based life. But it doesn't explain how life is silicon-based and not carbon-based. Not everyone here is a scientist. I think it should be explained how they know it. --70.44.119.165 19:00, 5 May 2007 (UTC)
It is not impossible for silicon-based life to inhabit the Earth in a fantasy setting. Oddity- (talk) 01:29, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Merge
Olimar has nothing that separates him from the game, so there is no reason for an article. The other two are bloated with trivial information and game guide material. The basic information is pretty much already described in the two game articles, and any extra stuff (listing every minor enemy) can just be thrown out. TTN 13:05, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
Hmm, being the guy who sourced these pages, the Olimar article does seem a bit unneeded. Most fictional works have a character list, WP:FICT, and I'd really rather not lose the Wildlife of Pikmin material, especially given how long it took to source. *Now that he thinks about it, are those valid sources?*
I do try to kick out game guide material when I see it, though. I've been away a while, so maybe some blatant stuff has made it in... --Kirby-oh 16:24, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
Ooh... That's not good. I'll wait a bit, I think, for a decision on merging before I go fiddling with the article. That does need an overhaul. Large cuts can certainly be made, merging can certainly be done, but I just don't want all of it removed. There is value in there. --Kirby-oh 16:33, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
- The only way wildlife can possibly exist as an article is to have various paragraphs describing them as a whole. There would be no single mentions at all, and it would require development and reception info. That is unlikely for it, so it is better suited as a subsection in the game articles. You can always transwiki the content to one of the various video game or Nintendo wiki's if you want to keep it intact. TTN 17:58, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
If these articles are merged/redirected, wouldn't it make much more sense for them to be merged/redirected with the series article not the first game article? SNS 02:10, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
Ah, having done some reading around, I recognize you now. *Copy and Paste to Word* Just so it's not lost for good. The Pikmin Wikia can use it quite well... Ultimately, I fail to see how this is all that much different than your creation of Mario characters. It seems higher quality, at any rate. There's fluff that can be cut, certainly. I'd better enlist the "Top Grub-Dog." He'll need consulting. I trust him to know what to do, even if I don't, you see. Kirby-oh 05:24, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
- TTN, you have to merge everything even HERE? Jeezus. General Banzai 06:15, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
I'd have to agree that it's not prudent to merge all of the pages. I could see making a case for merging the Captain Olimar article, as it seems that without his involvement in other video game titles, the article will not see much in the way of enlargement. As for the wildlife article, I don't think it makes sense to merge it into the Pikmin series article, especially because even without information that could be called "game-guide" in nature, the list is rather lengthy and would dominate the article. As it stands, we have an article bloated with material in violation of WP:NOT a game guide, and that is bad. When it is removed, we will have an article that contains a rather lengthier description of enemies from the Pikmin series of video games, which I can source much more accurately and thoroughly when I dig my Pikmin game guide out from one of the dusty boxes in my garage. Give me a week or so to fix up the article, remove gamecruft, and add some more concrete sources, and we can continue the discussion from there. I must admit, I used to patrol the Wildlife of Pikmin article quite regularly for cruft, and its current state is quite alarming. Also, I must admit I am flattered to be called the "Top Grub-Dog." :) RyanGerbil10(C-Town) 06:30, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
- Oh, by the way, I think Olimar meets the notability guidelines for his own article, but as it's late y'all will have to wait until I get home from work tomorrow. RyanGerbil10(C-Town) 06:48, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
I'll help out with the chopping, I've been away a while as well, and didn't see it. I just finished all my other spare time things (NOAlympics, and Icon Contest at NSider, so I've got some time to work on this, it seems.
Those sources were what I could dig up, to at least give it something. Other Pikmin pages had real sources I had access to. See: Pikmin (species) These ones are pretty bad. I do have the four guide in one as a source... (First four GCN games; Pikmin, Luigi's Mansion, Waverace, and SSBM) It lacks enemy info for the most part, but I know there's some.... --Kirby-oh 16:39, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
I have begun adding more extrensive sourcing to the Wildlife of Pikmin article, as well as giving the text a well-needed trim and edit. It will take me a few days to finish, as I am in the process of moving and have little time to devote to Wikipedia at the moment. However, when I have finished this work, the article will have a near-professional quality text and near 100 citations. I understand that the number of citations and quality of text are not prerequisites for the inclusion of an article, but I think an article with such a large amount of text and citations would be impractical to merge. Therefore I propose that unless there are any objections, I will remove the merge tag from the Wildlife of Pikmin article. If there are objections, we can continue to discuss the appropriate course of action here. RyanGerbil10(C-Town) 03:12, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
I certainly don't mind the removal of the Merge tag, and TTN is busy with TV shows right now... --Kirby-oh 19:50, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, remove the merge. The only one who's actually for it is TTN, and he's kinda left this area right now... Also, IMO, the Wildlife of Pikmin article is pretty good now. General Banzai 22:27, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
Still, I wouldn't drop it entirely. It has not been agreed on whether Captain Olimar should be merged. That, I'm not sure of. -Kirby-oh 00:02, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
I believe that the merge should be dropped, completely! You should know that there are things that actually deserve their own articles (I sadly failed with the Skulltula, however). At least i think so. I'm not saying that everything needs an article, but I'm pissed off that some of the Naruto and Bleach Characters lost their own articles! That was unfair on them. That is why I don't want the articles about some of the things about the Pikmin Games (Wildlife, Olimar, the Pikmin games, the Pikmin themselves, and anything else) merged. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.45.136.21 (talk) 04:17, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
The real issue here is why TTN seemingly gets sustainance from making Wikipedia a more limited and less accessible place. - The Norse 23:52, 27 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Lemmings?
Has this game 'officially' been compared to a 3D version of the Lemmings (game)? I've never played Pikmin, myself, but the description of it sounds pretty exact. --Is this fact...? 09:53, 19 October 2007 (UTC)
