Pigging (sport)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pigging is a widespread and popular sport in Australia. Typically a pigging dog is used to locate a wild pig and restrain it. The pig is then dispatched by the pigging team. In rural areas pigging is important to keep the native pig population under control and thus prevent destruction of valuable bush cattle grazing land. It has grown in popularity as a sport in its own right and many urban dwellers will go pigging at the weekend.
