Welcome to Pie4all88's (talk • contribs • count • logs) userpage! In real life, I am an undergraduate college student studying computer science. I have been active on Wikipedia since I registered an account on July 7, 2004, and while I may take small hiatuses from it every now and then, I always find myself returning. As a Wikipedian, I generally contribute by making minor fixes to articles as I read through them, reverting vandalism and warning the guilty, and creating pertinent redirections. Occasionally, though, I sit down and contribute something large. I am interested in expanding my role on Wikipedia by running anti-vandalism bots, enlisting with a team of editors (such as the League of Copyeditors), and handling managerial tasks on pages such as Articles for Deletion. I'm hoping that my work on this userpage will help me feel more comfortable beginning such tasks. I started the Gaming Collaboration of the week on October 4, 2004, which was an offshoot of Wikipedia's Collaboration of the week (superseded by the Article Creation and Improvement Drive, which has apparently closed) that focused on improving the quality of Wikipedia's computer and video game-related articles. Unfortunately, I fell away from the project after eight months or so, and while it continued until June 4, 2007 thanks to the efforts of a few key Wikipedians, it has since become inactive. I edit Wikipedia for a few reasons. I sincerely believe that Wikipedia is the internet at its best, since it offers a free, quick, centralized, reliable, unbiased, and more informative alternative to randomly finding another website using a search engine. Editing Wikipedia allows me to feel accomplished and like I am making a difference in the world, since teaching is a noble deed and its content is viewed by hundreds of millions of people each year. I consider Wikipedia to be revolutionary; never before has the sum of all human knowledge been so thoroughly represented in one database. Using Wikipedia, I have filled gaps in my knowledge that I never knew existed, and since I am conscious of the fact that Wikipedia would not survive without volunteers, I am more than willing to lend what time and effort I have to this worthy cause.
