Croatians lived on the coast, from Istria to Dubrovnik/Ragusa. Serbs lived in nowdays central Serbia amd Kosovo. There were no Serbs on the Adriatic at that time, and esp. no Serbian principality of Pagania. The man who defeated Pietro I Candiano was Croatian duke Branimir.

Correction: Croats lived from Istria to the river of Cetina (both in coastal modern-day Croatia) and to Livno (today in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Serbs lived from Vrbas (today's Bosnia and Herzegovina) to Skadar (nowadays Albania) Metohija (modern Kosovo)... but that's only historical interpretation (the only one that's most close to the truth, though) and based on statehood of their respective entities. --PaxEquilibrium 15:51, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
