[edit] trade name, not scientific name

I think this article should make clear that the name "pietersite" is a trade name made up for commercial reasons rather than a scientific rock or mineral name. The use of the "ite" ending gives it apparent scientific credibility that it doesn't deserve. --99.240.127.237 (talk) 14:34, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

I would like to see the word spelled phonetically.

I found the article to be well written and informative. Everything described, pertaining to the color and chatoyancy attributes, is correct.

I just purchased a 7 ounce specimen, that is mesmermizing.

The two photos (I can only speak of the China Pietersite) are of fine specimens, but by seeing mine, and these two other specimens, I can only imagine what amazing combinations are "out there".

As with fine boulder opal, the images "envisioned" by the combination of matrix and brilliant color are unique and, limited only by your own imagination. It is much like watching the clouds change and morph from one image to another to another.

I am lookin forward to cutting this stone to see what wonders lie beneath the surface.Kwrider (talk) 00:23, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
