Pies Descalzos ( English: Bare Feet) is Shakira's 1996 breakthrough album. This album has sold over 4 million copies worldwide. In Brazil it received a new edition including Portuguese versions and remixes of the album's songs. The album features the hit singles "Estoy Aquí" and "¿Dónde Estás Corazón?". The album was re-issued in 1997 (Brazil only) with bonus tracks, again in 2002 under the title "Colección de Oro", and finally in 2005, to promote the sales of Oral Fixation Vol. 2.

[edit] Album Information
Recording for the album began in February 1995, after the success of her single ¿Dónde Estás Corazón? Sony gave Shakira $100,000 to produce the album since they predicted that the album wouldn't sell past 100,000 copies. Shakira re-wrote many of her old songs with new melodies along with her partner Luis F. Ochoa. When promoting the album, Shakira was only given a small auditorium with guest being people who heard about the press conference of the album, not by the promotion done by Sony. Shakira states that the album is basically about her experiences in life and how she views society.
