Pierre Gingras is a politician from Quebec, Canada, and the Action démocratique du Québec Member of the National Assembly for the electoral district of Blainville.
From 1993 to 2005, Gingras served as Mayor of Blainville and was a councillor from 1989 to 1993 and the leader of the Civil action municipal political party for 14 years. He also worked the Commission scolaire des Mille-Îles for 9 years as well as in the printing industry. In addition, he was also member of economic committees in the Laurentides region and president of the Quebec committee of the Organisation Mondiale de la Famille and president of the North American branch of that organization.
Gingras was first elected to the National Assembly in the 2007 election with 42% of the vote. Parti Québécois (PQ) incumbent Richard Legendre, finished second with 33% of the vote.
On March 29, 2007, Gingras was appointed Chairman of the Official Opposition Caucus.[1] [2]
