From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Pier to Pub is an annual, 1.2km open water swimming race held at Lorne, a town located on the Great Ocean Road in Victoria, Australia
The race attracts some 4,000 competitors,[1] making it the largest organised swimming race in the world.
The race is usually held on the first Saturday in January, and is organised by the Lorne Surf Lifesaving Club. The event runs in conjunction with the 8km Mountain to Surf run (held the day before) and the Lorne Surf Boat Race.
The race has been previously won by Kieren Perkins, two time Olympic gold medalist and former World record holder in the 1,500m freestyle.
