Pier Solar and the Great Architects is the first game made by WM Development, a development team originated in the homebrew-gaming-scene and focusing on bringing new games for the Sega Mega Drive.

[edit] History

Development of the game originally started in 2004; planned as a mini-game starring the members of the homebrew-website Eidolon's Inn, such as KEGA Fusion-developer Steven Snake, it soon became an ambitious attempt to create a real Role Playing Game in the style of classics like Final Fantasy VI, Chrono Trigger or Phantasy Star IV.

The first big announcement of the game, still under its codename, was made in 2007 in an interview with the popular Mega Drive fansite Sega-16. On October 29th, 2007 a teaser was made public. Finally on January 13th, 2008 the game was officially named "Pier Solar and the Great Architects", and the official website and forums were launched. Since then the game has been reported about on many gaming-related websites and gained a rather big increase in publicity. Lately the popular UK magazine Retro Gamer has covered it, with an in-depth interview coming in issue #49.

Information released since then include the plan to release the game on October 29th, 2008, as well as the news that it will be the first 64-Megabit-cartridge available for the system. However, no details about the pricing have been announced yet. A demo is said to be released as a ROM-image in April 2008.
