Why is the phrase "privately wracked with religious guilt" attached to St. Thomas More and put on the front page? Surely this is a very anti-religious POV statement, which doesn't correspond to anything it St. Thomas More's life - presumably the author deduced it from St. Thomas More's ascetical practices, but these are things which, while foreign to modern culture, are very much part of the mainstream ascetical tradition with a spiritual purpose. Perhaps the phrase
- "Although he coined the term Utopia, he was privately wracked with religious guilt, being prone to mortification and wearing a hair shirt"
could be replaced with something like:
- "St. Thomas More was an influential shaper of modern thought, introducing the term Utopia with his novel by the same name, and at the same time a devout Catholic, even embracing ascetical practices such as the use of a hair shirt."
I know there is not a lot of time left in the day, but it would be good if at least the main page was clearly NPOV. --Tbook 19:34, 5 April 2006 (UTC)
I will make the change on the template here for now. --Tbook 19:39, 5 April 2006 (UTC)
