The bold red arrows on this map give the false impression that the troops led by General Tremble were positoned immediately to the north (left) of Pickett's division. This is not the case. Pettigrew's (Heth's) division consisting of the brigades under Fry, Marshall (Pettigrew's own), Davis, and Brockenbroug were to the left of Pickett in that order. Tremble's brigades (Scales and Lane) were supporting Pettigrew though as the attack neared it's peak, the units became jumbled. This map gives the reader the false impression that Pettigrew's position was to the far left of the line.
