[edit] Summary

Non-free / fair use media rationale for Picasa
Description

Picasa 2.2.2820-5 displaying a collection of public domain featured photographs. The reason the pictures only take up 1.9 MB of space is because I cheated and only downloaded the reduced resolution "preview" copies of the photos.

Source

I took this screenshot myself.

Article

Portion used

Main screen of a complex computer program

Low resolution?

No; reducing the resolution would make the text difficult or impossible to read. Besides which, the portion of copyrighted material used is so low that reducing the resolution would not significantly aid the claim of fair use.

Purpose of use

To identify and illustrate Picasa in the article Picasa

Replaceable?

No; it is extremely unlikely that Google will release Picasa under a free license.

Other information The GNOME user interface elements are licensed under the GPL. All the featured pictures I selected are in the public domain. I release any copyright I may hold over this image (such as for making the collection of featured pictures) into the public domain.
