Pictish people, for the purposes of this category, are people who appear from Pictland, i.e Scotland north of the river Forth before the end of the 9th century. The classification is based on geographical origin and cultural background, and does not make reference to language; so the following are "Pictish people" irrespective of whether Gaelic or Pictish or both were the mother tongues.
