Phyllis...just one more wikignome helping out. I'm of a certain age, (January 7, 1953) with some time on my hands and I know some stuff about old airplanes and aviation history so I usually go there first. I seem to know something about alot of subjects, tho'. I work to keep the facts straight and the words comprehensible.
Interests
Music: Bach, Beethoven and Brahms. Mozart, of course. Stravinsky! Bartok. Beatles. Mid-60s to mid 80s rock and blues. I want good guitar playing. No rap. No electronica "noodling". No noise! Discovering jazz these days. I sort of play the guitar now and then, mostly electric blues. I have a Robin Artisan guitar (look that one up ! No wikiarticles about Robin Guitars, yet... however...Robin website) I bought 20 years ago and a cheesy old practice amp which I should discard and go buy a small Marshall. One of these days. I play for myself as a form of amusement. My music system is a Pioneer SX-828 receiver, Electro-Voice Interface A loudspeakers and Denon DCD-600 CD deck I bought for $10 at a yard sale. The others were ebay prizes. BTW, that Denon sounds better than an expensive Rotel deck I have, IMO. Seems to work better, too. Hmmm... Oh yes, Sennheiser HD-580 headphones, also courtesy of ebay. No, I'm no audiophile but I do appreciate good equipment and good sound.
Aviation: Took my first flight in a DC-3 in 1955 when I was two. Fascinated by aviation ever since. All aspects. Civil, military and space. However, Catastrophe. A few years ago water damage destroyed much of my library. Irreplaceble magazines and books, gone. It's still a sore point.
Psychology: I went to college (Coe College -- Cedar Rapids, Iowa) for this?
Personal Persuations: Generally try to be understanding without feeling I have to swallow everything. Liberal where it's good to be liberal and conservative where it's good to be... I have NO use for extreme, dogmatic and mindlessly uptight politics.
