[edit] phytochorion versus floristic province versus ?

Can someone try to explain the difference between these terms (and perhaps others)? Based on the definition I found for phytochorion, it seems to refer to something like oak-hickory forest, rather than the coarser areas which form floristic provinces (much less regions or kingdoms). But am I right about this? Do people call them phytochoria in Africa and other terms elsewhere? The term phytochorion shows up in a search often enough for me to believe it is not just in use by a tiny set of people, but I'm not sure how widely or in what context, or whether we even are using it correctly in this article.
