[edit] Career

[edit] History

Physicx's journey in becoming one of the best bboys in the world all started out during his middle school, when he was inspired and moved after watching other bboys. This started his deep passion into bboying in 1998. Extreme, his passion may have been, but his parents opposed it, as it was believed that breaking was a practice for delinquents. But that never stopped him. His intense passion led him to continue pursuing his dream of becoming a professional bboy.

After graduating from school he moved to Seoul, Korea, where he began his professional bboy career. Joining Rivers Crew, he was able to earn a great deal of respect from the Korean bboy community.

The name soon Physicx swept around the world after the UK B-Boy Championship, where he displayed his unimaginable and unique skills to the world for the first time and took the title as winner of the solo tournament. The world found out and discovered the hidden talent behind Physicx.

His moves were beyond unimaginable, as some of his moves had never before been seen in bboying history, such as his signature move, the "waistbreaker," or the "hollowback swing". The world was astounded to see moves such as 16 rotations of an elbow spin with only one push and spinning flags, among his other clean moves.

Ever since, many new generations of bboys and bgirls have begun to idolize him, and many other professional bboys have shown him much respect.

[edit] Competitions

Physicx has been a champion of many international-level tournaments both as a member of a crew and as an individual. His most notable crew achievements include a R-16 Korea and Bboy Unit Korea title with Rivers in 2007, and UK B-Boy Championship titles with Project Soul in 2002, 2004 and 2005. As an individual, he won the solo title at UK B-Boy Championship in 2004. He was also selected for the 2005 Red Bull BC One individual tournament involving 1 on 1 battles between the top 16 bboys in the world.

[edit] Judging

Physicx has also been selected as a judge for several breakdance competition in Korea, including B-Boy Showdown.[citation needed]

[edit] Dancing Style

Physicx has developed and popularized several breakdance techniques and moves, many of which are considered extremely technical and difficult. Below is a list of moves pioneered by Physicx:

  • Elbow spin: An elbow variant of 1990. Physicx is known for having exceptionally long elbow spins, and few powermovers in the world (KYS/The End) have achieved similar duration.
  • Spinning flag/'60s: A flag freeze that spins like a 1990, but with hand twists independent of body movement allowing for slow but dynamic rotation.
  • flag 2000/River's 2000: A 2000 spin with the legs piked horizontally parallel to the ground. Physicx usually does one-to-two rotations average considering this is one of the hardest 2000's ever created.
  • Knee spin to airflares
  • Air Walk/Kicks: Throwing himself into a handstand, Physicx continuously transitions from handstand to forearm to shoulder to side freeze and back again. He does it in a random order while kicking his legs in all directions; this makes for an impressive display of strength and balance.
  • Airflare 1.5/Air windmills into Darkhammers:Physicx drops into a windmill, but pushes himself up into airflare form and drops while spinning into another windmill and then transitions into darkhammers.
  • Waistbreakers: From an unstabbed frog freeze, he shifts either one or both of his legs straight and beside each other to an L-back, then to a full hollowback and to the L back in the opposite direction of the first. While he is doing the 2 legged variant, he shakes his body while shifting. The 2 legged variant is always done after his transition with kicks (see above).
  • Unkeyed handhops into Hollowback swing: Starting by holding one leg and hopping on one hand, and later dropping down to a hollowback swing for an impressive yet quick move.
  • Gainer into Icy-ice: Gainer, landed, then immediate dive into a shoulder or head slide. The slide is usually half spun with an ending freeze if it is his older head glide variation.
  • Hanging Airbaby: Physicx goes into airbaby freeze and then abruptly uses his bent leg to lift his straight leg up into the air. This freeze still has the airbaby freeze form, but without the bent leg's knee on the supporting arm's elbow. Sometimes referred to as "true" airbaby.
  • Multi-bronco jumps into freeze: A combo of which Physicx jumps into a handstand then jump backwards into a backhandspring and finally jumps backwards again with a landing freeze.
  • Handstand UFO: UFOs that are higher that normal and are usually done after a footwork sequence.
  • Hangbaby Spin: Usually After another footwork sequence, Physicx does a hanging airbaby with legs closed that spins for a short amount of time (usually ended as a planche with legs closed).
  • Dropping Airflares: Physicx goes into air flare form, but instead of jumping from one hand to the other when his back is facing the ground like normal airflares, he drops down onto his back and rolls back up into his other hand, and continues this sequence.
  • hand stand into popping elbow tracks
