The Phoenix Metropolitan Opera is a professional opera company in Phoenix, Arizona and is an affiliate member of OPERA America.[1] The company was founded in 2006 by Artistic Director John Massaro and Creative Director Gail Dubinbaum. Massaro and Dubinbaum are married and have both had highly successful musical careers, working with such prestigious companies as the Metropolitan Opera among others.[2] The 2007 inaugural season included only one fully staged opera, Puccini's La Bohème. In 2008, the company will present two fully staged productions: Verdi's Aida and Puccini's Tosca. The company performs all of their productions at the Orpheum Theatre (Phoenix).[3]
