[edit] The Last Wave

Kudos for your adjustment to The Last Wave. I've always preferred the original poster to the DVD cover. For myself, so glad the films out on DVD at all, the VHS just wasn't sufficient. Ta, David Spalding Talk/Contribs 17:25, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image tagging for Image:Marnie2.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Marnie2.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

[edit] Hitchcock films

Hi,

Just wanted to let you know that devoting one major heading in each article to Hitchcock's cameo appearance in each film is overdoing it just a bit, as the cameos, while amusing, are not important enough to merit their own section. It is preferable to include information like this in the article's trivia section. If you have any questions, feel free to leave a message on my talk page. Thanks, Green451 13:35, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the reply. Don't feel bad or anything, it's just one of those things that's hard to explain...when I was first starting here, it took me quite a while to get the hang of it, so don't worry, it's all just a learning process. On another subject, you'll really enjoy Myst IV (I think it's one of the best in the series), and the graphics are incredible. My guilty secret is that I played through most of the Myst games with a walkthrough, because I just like the graphics and story. Happy editing, Green451 16:55, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Johnglover.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Johnglover.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Jkelly 23:43, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Malaika (Group) deletion

Hi,

I noted that you pulled down the copywrited material on the Malaika article; do you know anything about the band to be able to reword it perhaps?

Stuart Steedman 12:31, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Malaika

Hi,

I didn't put the Malaika material up (the copyrighted stuff: somebody else did that), I only tagged it for speedy deletion.

What I was asking is, because you've rightly removed the material, the article is now empty. This means I must now tag the article for speedy deletion because of it being an empty article.

Since it would be a shame to have to remove what could be a good article, I was suggesting if you would like to reword the article into something that doesn't violate copyright laws. I'd be happy to help with this if you like.

Cheers,

  13:55, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

Hi,

I'm not sure I would be the right person to do that. I don't know anything about the group. I was just trying to help out with a little clean up of the database. I am under the impression that anyone should delete the files tagged after seven days if a response to the flag to delete hasn't been responded to. I hope that is the right thing to do. I am kind of new to Wikipedia - and thoroughly addicted already - and kinda feelin my way around these things. Philbertgray 14:03, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] ELAC welcome

Hi Philbert, thanks for joining the Extra-Long Article Committee. Here’s a useful site map for you:

Template:ELAC site map

Your input would be appreciated on the “projects” and “conduct” page; it would be nice to build these in terms of group consensus and input. The psycho article looks like it will be a fun break-up. Thanks, talk soon: --Sadi Carnot 18:50, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Edit summaries and talk page usage

Regarding your recent addition of a tag to Psycho (1960 film), I noticed that you didn't discuss your revert on the article talk page, and you reverted without providing an edit summary. I just wanted to remind you of the importance of developing consensus on Wikipedia, and how to use the edit summary feature - whenever you revert another editor, you should indicate that in your edit summary, to help avoid WP:3RR problems:

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field, especially for big edits or when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you. Sandy (Talk) 09:39, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

Hi Sandy, I've just added this for future reference. Again, this is a new project and we are working out the bugs. Thanks: --Sadi Carnot 11:01, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:Ritahayworth4.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Ritahayworth4.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

[edit] Image:John glover1.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:John glover1.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MECUtalk 16:32, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Thelodger1.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Thelodger1.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Gay Cdn (talk) (Contr.) 23:04, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
