[edit] Merger proposal
- No merge I definitely vote against merging Philippine mythical creatures with Philippine mythology, as there is much material on Creatures in Philippine Mythology which cannot be discussed in depth in a general discussion of Philippine Mythology. Instead, I propose that the Philippine Mythology article needs to be expanded, as the emphasis on legendary creatures or even Gods, is unwarranted. I believe Philippine Mythology should instead cover the unique characteristics of Filipino Mythology. I've been wanting to work on this project for a while, but I have not yet find the time. I am, on the other hand, slowly gathering resources so I can do so. Alternativity 09:25, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
- No merge I also vote against merging. Raw tonnage being the first issue, as the main article is very large. This article may need improvement, but it's already showing enough of substance to stand as it's own article. Many creatures in Greek and Roman mythology have individual articles, so I'm not seeing that being a subset of Philippine mythology is an overwhelming reason to merge.Horrorshowj 21:39, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
- No merge - illustrations can help expand/improve the article further; needs clean up too based on wikipedia presentation standards. Dragonbite 04:38, 29 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Reorganizing the whole darn thing
Okay, for now I retain my vote being "no merge", but I'm looking at the Philippine Mythology articles as a body, and at the articles on the mythology of other countries for guidance. And I find our Mythology articles somewhat confusing from that perspective.
May I propose a course of action to fix this? I haven't really gotten much feedback regarding the idea for a Wikiproject: Philippine Mythology, so I suppose this can be done a little at a time.
First and foremost, I think the creation of a Philippine Mythology Infobox would greatly resolve our problems. (As a relative newbie to wikipedia, I do not yet know how to come up with one, by the way.)
The following are organization notes.
Philippine mythology should be the overarching article and contain a brief intro to each sub aspect.
The Sub-aspects could include
- Philippine folk literature
- Gods and Goddesses in Philippine Myth)
- Philippine Legendary Creatures and Spirits (existing as Philippine mythical creatures?)
- Philippine Legendary Figures
- Mythical and Sacred Locations in the Philippines
- Sacred Objects in Philippine Myth
- Myths in contemporary Philippine culture
- Urban Myths of the Philippines
- Philippine Folklorists
- Regional Mythologies
As the material in each sub-aspect grows, we should spin off individual pages. Whether we keep the sub-aspect article or reduce it to a list would depend on the 'raw tonnage' each aspect develops.
I will post this later on Tambayan Philippines. Just give me time to think about it in more detail first. :-D Alternativity 10:39, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
- You may find the following Infobox links helpful: Help:Infobox and Wikipedia:List of infoboxes/Proposed. Another thing, since all of the given opinions here have been No merge, and there has been no dissent at all, I think consensus has been reached. It may be alright for the merge notices to be removed. -- • Kurt Guirnela • ‡ Talk 12:14, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

- I created 2 navigational boxes (side navbox and bottom navbox) for the main Philippine mythology articles. Thinking about an infobox for individual mythical creatures (probably similar to these nav boxes). - Dragonbite 04:48, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Rearrange
As this is primarily a list article, I think the creatures should have a particular organization within the article. I'm thinking alphabetical 'cause that would be the easiest. Any takers? Shrumster 18:11, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Maybe
maybe this is best combined with Philippine mythology. Not for sure, just suggesting that. Goldenrowley 02:28, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Listing removed from WP:PM
Since the merger proposal hasn't attracted any feedback in the past six months, I'm concluding that consensus is against the merge and removing the listing on WP:PM. B.Wind (talk) 02:43, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
