I should point out that the part about Akin's marriage derives from a 1989 issue of Starlog magazine. In it, he says to be married with a 16-month old daughter. I did some math, and odds are that I got the year correct on her date. The part about being divorced comes from a post I found [1]. Chances are fair that he was referring to the same marriage. This and the his child (or any more he may have had in since 1989) should be checked for anything that would either back-up or refute this data. --Bacteria 08:28, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Race

Akin was married to a white ballet teacher, but they ultimately divorced. The couple had one child born in 1988. Is it necessary to mention his wife was "white"? --Alexis 18:55, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

I added that because I took it from a Starlog article where he makes mention of how he could sense prejudice regarding interracial couples in the States. I left it lingering there in the chance that I was going to expand upon it. If you think it looks odd, you can take it out, and I can put it back if I get something to wrap around it. --Bacteria 09:15, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
