Talk:Phil Towle

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I suggest that this page not be deleted. I am familiar with this person and will assist in improving it. Phil is a celebrity therepist in that he is brought in to consult celebrities, by their management when there is a risk of them self destructing and ruining there carees. Some who has never heard of him may not know his celebrity~~Krowe~

[edit] Merge

This article reads more like a website bio for Towle than an encyclopedia entry. Since he is only known due to his involvement with Metallica, I propose that the articles be merged. DuckLionDog 13:03, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Do Not Merge

Towle is also notable for his work with the St Louis Rams prior to their Super Bowl championship (2000) about which head coach Dick Vermeil has spoken glowingly. His professional training includes a fellowship at the Menninger Clinic in Topeka. Though he is portrayed as celebrity shrink with questionable methods, there is more substance to his work that deserves interest. His work is pertinent to the history of the burgeoning field of consulting psychology -- he could be viewed as a pioneer or a maverick, in either case it deserves attention. In 2005 he was the invited keynote speaker at the annual Symposium of the International Society for the Psychoanalytic Study of Organizations.

Agreed that the article as it stands is thinly written and poorly attributed, but it's not a one-sided promo. I was hoping to improve on the scope of the article. It will be seen that he's notable beyond the context of the Metallica work.

If this article is expanded to describe a couple more accomplishments that aren't related to Metallica, then there's no more merge discussion. Can someone just write up the St. Louis Rams or something? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 171.66.48.60 (talk) 04:33, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
