Phineas Densmore Gurley

Phineas Densmore Gurley was Chaplain of the United States Senate and pastor of New York Avenue Presbyterian Church in Washington, DC. This church was attended regularly by President Abraham Lincoln and his family. Dr. Gurley was at Lincoln's bedside when Lincoln died. He presided over the funeral as well.
