Philo has two recognizable statements. One that shows reflects their mission statement and another that reflects their belief statement.

Philo Middle School is committed to providing a safe and orderly environment in which all students experience success in academic, social, physical and emotional development.

We believe everyone has the ability to learn, grow, and be successful as a result of effective, positive instruction; student attendance is important for student success; respect begets respect; our school climate reflects the needs of every child who enters our building; positive character development is the result of positive experience.

[edit] Code of sportsmanship

It is recognized that public school interscholastic athletic events should be conducted in such a manner that good sportsmanship prevails at all times. Every effort should be made to promote a climate of wholesome competition. Unsportsmanlike acts will not be tolerated. A player is under the coach's control from the time they arrive field until they leave the field.

[edit] Eligibility

  • Students must be enrolled no later than the 15th day of the present semester and must be in regular attendance.
  • Students must not be absent more that 10 days in a semester.
  • Students must pass all courses with at least a 1.75 GPA.
  • Students may not participate on a 7th or 8th grade team if they become 15 years of age on or before October 16 of that year.
  • Students must be present for at least 50% of the day on the day of an event to participate.
  • Students must receive a physical by licensed physician within the past 365 days.
  • Students must not accept any prizes, merchandise, money or anything that can be exchanged for athletic participation.
  • Students may not dress for a contest, sit on the bench, or practice if you are not eligible to participate.
  • Students may not participate if they have any outstanding financial obligations to Philo.

As a student athlete, I am a role model. Using inappropriate language, taunting; baiting; and or the use of unwarranted physical contact directed at opposing player, coaches, and fans are contrary to the spirit of fair play and the good sportsmanship of my school. I accept my responsibility to model good sportsmanship that comes with being a student athlete.
