Philly Sound Clash
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Philly Sound Clash (Music to drive by Volume 1) is the name of a CD released in 2007 and distributed for free by the carsharing operation PhillyCarShare. The CD features twelve bands from Philadelphia. The cd liner states that "this showcase provides a valuable opportunity for local musicians and is the origination of an annual event here in Philadelphia." Copies of the CD were left in PhillyCarShare vehicles, and members were encouraged to take as many copies as they desired when they left the car.
The Philly Sound Clash CD was created after a panel of judges selected twelve local bands from 100+ entries. The top six groups performed at World Cafe Live in front of a live audience of a full capacity crowd. taragirl was the runner up and Philadelphia Slick took home the grand prize.
