Phillip Island Nature Park

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Phillip Island Nature Park is a nature park located on Phillip Island, Victoria, Australia. The only nature park in Victoria, it was created in 1996 by the State Government.

Only a 90 minute scenic drive from Melbourne, beautiful Phillip Island holds a special place in the heart of all who visit. The island is rich in uniquely Australian wildlife, stunning landscapes and coastal waters – and is the perfect place for marine watching.

Whilst deservedly famed internationally for its Penguin Parade, what many visitors don’t realise is that Phillip Island offers so much more – and you’ll need more than a day to explore them.

Top of the list is Phillip Island Nature Parks. Covering 1805 hectares, the parks include Pyramid Rock, Rhyll Inlet, Seal Rocks and Cape Woolamai – all of which have a vast array of flora and fauna in an environment that you’ll find simply breathtaking.

The island is home to Australia’s newest marine attraction, The Nobbies Centre, which offers world class facilities for penguin and seal watching whilst also being an ideal venue for conferences, functions and dining. At the centre you can explore and discover secrets of the incredible southern marine environment via interactive displays and cameras that let you zoom in on magnificent marine creatures, in particular the inhabitants of Seal Rocks.

The stellar line up of attractions also includes Churchill Island Heritage Farm, taking visitors on a nostalgic trip back in time. Discover heritage buildings and a historic working farm, meet farm animals, wander through gardens, walk or cycle on the tracks and enjoy a meal in the licensed café, marvelling at the spectacular bay views.

Phillip Island’s Penguin Parade has played an integral role in placing the island firmly on the map as one of Australia’s best and most visited tourist locations. It is the only place in the world where you can see Little Penguins in their own environment, and once you’ve seen them, you’ll want to keep going back time and time again.

To continue your unique Australian experience, visit the Koala Conservation Centre which is dedicated to koala research and conservation - and where you can meet our cuddly little koala friends ‘face to face’ on treetop boardwalks.
