Philippines Davis Cup team

The Philippines Davis Cup team represents the Philippines in Davis Cup tennis competition and are governed by the Philippine Tennis Association.

The Philippines currently compete in the Asia/Oceania Zone of Group I. They won the Eastern Zone in 1957, 1958, 1960, and 1964, and reached the World Group Play-off in 1991.

Oo April 2007, businessman and sportsman Jean Henri Lhuillier, President and Chief Executive Officer of Cebuana Lhuillier was appointed team manager of the Philippines' Davis Cup team.

  • The Philippines competed in its first Davis Cup in 1926.
  • The Philippines top seed Cecil Mamiit, ranked 194 by the Association of Tennis Professionals or ATP defeats New Zealand's Rubin Stantham (749), 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 for the first single's match at the semi-finals for the Group 2 of Asia-Oceania round of the Davis Cup on April 6, 2007. Second top seed Eric Taino (547) wins over Simon Rea (668) 6-1, 6-2, 6-4. The Good Friday match gives the Philippines a 2-0 advantage over the Kiwis. The Davis Cup was held at the Parnell Club Courts. Team Manager Jean Henri Lhuillier, President of Cebuana Lhuillier is hopeful to sweep the match into the doubles and Philippine Tennis Association (Philta) President Luis Mendoza hailed Mamiit's and Taino's victory.
