Philippines’ Next Top Model (retroactively as PNTM) is based on the popular, top-rated series America's Next Top Model, hosted by Tyra Banks. It was won by Grendel Alvarado of Bacolod City, who received a modeling representation with Starz People in Hong Kong, an editorial fashion spread in Preview magazine, US$10,000 courtesy of Mane and Tail Shampoo, a P150,000 modeling contract with Saga Events, a one-year local endorsement campaign from L'Oréal Paris, one-year complimentary treatments from Marie France and Facial Care Center, a south sea pearl necklace from Jewelmer, and the title "Jewelmer’s Pearl Ambassador to the World.". The international destination for this cycle was Victoria City, Hong Kong. The show had its premiere last March 13, 2007 on RPN.

[edit] Production
Philippines' Next Top Model follows the transformation of young women into supermodels as they vie for a coveted modeling contract. Trained by Ruffa Gutierrez-Bektas herself, the contestants are judged on a weekly basis by a panel of fashion industry professionals including first Filipina Black Supermodel Wilma Doesnt, Preview Magazine's Editor-in-Chief Pauline Suaco-Juan, Event Director Robby Carmona and photographer Xander Angeles. Each week, a contestant is eliminated based on her performance during the challenges presented on each episode. Aside from weekly evaluations, the intensive training prepares the young models for the modeling world by teaching them to be fierce in photo shoots and face the ultimate runway.
Watch out, the Philippines is next... was PNTM's promotional theme during its advertising campaign and audition tour.
[edit] Format
The first Philippines' Next Top Model has selected fourteen contestants and may run to at least fourteen episodes or less, with the creation of twist and probable double-elimination. Like America's Next Top Model, there is one contestant eliminated per episode (though there have been cases of a double elimination or no elimination) by consensus of the judging panel. During the program, PNTM used the idea of Ruffa-text instead the usual Mail like in ANTM - Tyra Mail, Australian version - Erika Mail and others. this is because of the wide range of Filipinos known for SMS or much loved for texting.
