Philippa Tattersall
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Major Philippa Tattersall (born 1975, Tarland, Aberdeenshire), nicknamed "Pip", is the first (and so far only) woman to succeed in the 9-week Commando course to join the British Commandos. She serves in the Educational and Training Services Branch of the Adjutant General's Corps. She succeeded in May 2002 after 2 previous failed attempts, joining 3 Commando Brigade, though the British government's ban on women serving in units whose "primary duty is to close with and kill the enemy" means she only provides combat support or combat service support to the Brigade.
